Introduction:

Small Island Developing States Network (SIDSnet) connects 43 SIDS in the Pacific, Caribbean, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean and Africa. Its main goal is to utilise ICTs in supporting the implementation of the sustainable development objectives of the Barbados Programme of Action. The project was launched in 1998 through UNDP's Sustainable Development Networking Programme (SDNP) and the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS). The project is administered by the Water Resources Management and SIDS Branch of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).
