Africa Harvest - sorghum projects
Africa Harvest is undertaking two sorghum projects (1) The Africa Bio-fortified Sorghum project (http://biosorghum.org/ ) and (2) commercialisation of sorghum in Kenya. The former addresses the malnutrition problem in the African. Africa Harvest, with seven science partner organisations, works on unlocking and enhancing the nutritional potential of sorghum. It researches ways of ensuring sorghum's nutrients can be digested and used by the human body. It also looks into adding other nutrients, such as vitamin A, that are essential for proper growth and development using bio-fortification. With regard to the latter, Africa Harvest partners with East Africa Breweries to develop an effective and sustainable supply chain for sorghum.
