Introduction:

South Africa Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor has acknowledged the country's leading female scientists through the 2010 Women in Science Awards ceremony. The awards are part of an effort to increase the number of female scientists and researchers in South Africa, to facilitate women's access to research professions and to identify scientists and researchers as role models for younger women and girls.
